We moved to our new house on Friday, so I'm just now getting my first chance to use the computer. It's been a hectic past week, but we're in our house and we love it! Dean's parents were here from Wednesday through Sunday to help, and we definitely couldn't have done it without them. There were a couple little bumps in the road....our electricity was cut off on Friday at 10am while we were at our new house for our final inspection. The TXU representative had told me that it would definitely be in the mid-afternoon, but apparently she was wrong! So our house was sweltering while we were moving. And our movers weren't able to fit everything onto their truck, so Dean and his dad (and our old neighbor Richard) made three or four extra trips bringing the rest of the furniture over here. They didn't finish until after 9pm....so it was a very long day! We also lost a bag containing some pillows and the quilt for our bed. And the movers could only fit two of our dining room chairs on their truck.....but one of those chairs is SO scuffed up! The guy even admitted that they ran out of blankets to cover them!! It's very noticable, so we're thinking they're just going to have to replace the chair. They'd better!!! So it was a little bit frustrating with all that happened, but my mom said that everybody always has moving stories. So I guess things rarely go perfectly!
Grant also came down with some kind of nasty virus....he started acting fussy and had a little fever on Saturday. We assumed it was teething, but Sunday night he felt especially hot. His temp on Monday morning was 102.5, so I took him to the doctor. His doctor has seen a virus going around that starts off without many symptoms (at least that are noticable in a baby). But it progresses into a cold after a few days. So we'll have to see if he's right! Anyway, Grant has just been upset and very fussy these past couple of days (and nights), which has taken its toll on me too. Last night he slept horribly (couldn't even get comfortable in my arms while I rocked him) and he woke up this morning with a fever of 103.7! The nurse said this was hopefully the peak of it.
Okay, this is much longer than I intended! I will try to upload a picture or two of our house in the next few days. And apparently I need to add back the ability to make comments. I got one wierd comment from someone speaking Portuguese one time, so it freaked me out and I removed all comments! But I may try it again. Hope to talk to all of you soon.....

Shoes
We received a few hand-me-down pairs of Robeez slip-on shoes from our friends Barbara and Stephen, and I put a pair on Grant a few days ago. He looks like such a big boy with them on! At first, he wasn't sure what to make of them and tried to pull them off a few times, but he got used to them quickly. He didn't seem to even notice them after a few minutes...and they're nice because they're so thin, so it's basically like wearing socks. Grant's not walking yet, but he is starting to take steps around pieces of furniture, and he'll "surf" from one thing to another (he's just starting to do that). So while he doesn't really need shoes now, I figured I'd better start getting his feet used to them.

Sleepy boy!!
This was so funny.....one day last week, Grant was being difficult at naptime and I was tired of struggling with getting him to go to sleep, so I decided just to get him out of his crib and wait a little while before trying to put him down again. We went to the kitchen and made my lunch, and I sat down at the table to eat. I went ahead and put Grant in his highchair and gave him some snacks to eat too. Well, before long I could tell he was getting VERY tired. He kept eating but his eyes were getting more and more droopy with every bite. He'd even shut them for a few seconds at a time, then open them back up again and keep eating. Finally, he'd had enough....he just laid his head down and fell asleep! It was the cutest thing, although I felt a bit like a negligent mom letting my baby get so tired that he'd fall asleep in his highchair! Oh well....

Playing with Jacob
Grant and I went to the library last week with our friends Sierra and Jacob. Jacob is 4 months old and had never been to Book Babies before. We had a good time, but both the boys were still fairly clueless about what's going on! It's designed for newborns to age 18 months, but the babies who are truly participating are usually over a year old. I've been going with Grant for the past few months (sometimes we go twice a week, sometimes not at all), and he still just enjoys watching what's going on. I'm sure eventually he'll catch on and be able to clap and do the hand motions.
Anyway, after the library, Sierra and Jacob came over to our house for a while. Jacob had already gotten back into his carseat when Grant became very interested in him! I think he thought Jacob was a toy, because he kept pulling at his hair and his face! Jacob was a good sport, though....he never cried or fussed even though it looked very painful a couple of times!
Jacob....what a cutie!!
Grant is having fun, and Jacob is wondering what's happening to him!!
Both boys smiling....

Labor Day
We had a nice Labor Day....we started it off by saying good-bye to the Mustang! Robbie, his wife Ashly, and his dad came down in the morning to pick it up. Here's a picture of all the guys standing in front of it.Dean and Grant crying as it drives away one last time! Just kidding...
That afternoon, we had a fun Labor Day party with our Sunday school class. There was a big group of us, and we finally figured out (after many tries) how to work the timer on our camera! There were so many kids there....there were 8 babies ages 16 months and younger, plus a few more who are older!
Finally....another picture of the three of us together! I don't think we've had one taken since Easter! It was so cute that I decided to use it as our photo on the front of our blog. Grant had a good time crawling around and playing with Benjamin's toys (we had the party at his parents' house), but he was very tired and ready for bed by the time we left!
