Daddy's Birthday!

Dean's birthday is today! Grant is finally understanding a little more about birthdays and likes to sing the Happy Birthday song, so we've been practicing it today. We don't have any plans, except to stay here and eat cake. Poor Dean.....he always enjoys going out to dinner on his birthday, and the past few years we've gone to eat steak. It's one of the only times of the year he gets steak! But last year was a little bit of a disaster, as Grant was 14 months old and already beginning his terrible twos. It just didn't feel like it was worth all the money, when you have to hurry through dinner because you're afraid your child will have a meltdown!

So on Saturday, we had Dean's birthday dinner.....at Cici's pizza! How sad! We didn't go with that in mind, but we realized when we were there that we wouldn't be going out again before (or on) his birthday. But he took it like a champ......he didn't even really seem to mind too much. I guess when you have little kids, you kind of resign yourself to the fact that you won't be enjoying a lot of quiet, fancy dinners for a few years! But....as a side....Cici's is getting expensive! I remember when it cost $2.99 for the buffet....now they charge $5.49, and a drink is $1.69 extra! Ridiculous!! So much for cheap! At least we didn't have to pay for Grant....kids under 3 are free.

Grant loves playing outside with Daddy.....Dean swings him really high (much higher than I am comfortable, sometimes!).
Last weekend, they made a spare box into a little fort! Grant loves it.....it has a door and a few windows.

After making the box and playing in it, Grant and Dean were laying on the couch watching TV when Grant just went to sleep! It was so cute.....
